Lately, I have been hearing a ton about Pinterest. What is Pinterest, you ask? I was asking the same question until recently. Pinterest is a self-described virtual pinboard. Users ‘pin’ pictures of things they love and share these pictures with other users. See a picture of cupcakes that look delicious? Click the picture and you’ll be taken to the recipe. Intrigued by the picture of a TV lift cabinet? Simply click the picture and you can find more information and even purchase it! You can find pretty much anything on Pinterest, not just recipes and furniture. It’s great for finding inspiration when decorating, ideas for fall fashion and hilarious internet memes. I am addicted to the HGTV network. My favorite show is House Hunters International followed closely by Property Brothers and Sarah’s House. The other day I was watching a House Hunters International episode that was filmed in Barbados. The home hunter enters bedroom during home showing and BAM! There is one of our TV lift cabinets.
Do you recognize the TV lift cabinet within this bedroom? It is our very own Prism Espresso! Can you imagine my surprise and delight of having one of our cabinets make it all the way to Barbados? I was thrilled. In honor of that episode, this week’s product focus of the week is the Prism Espresso.
The Prism Espresso is modernly designed with clean contemporary lines. The bottom of this cabinet has a concealed drawer that features flip down panels for access on either side. The drawer space can store very comfortably two electronic devices. This cabinet features our built-in rack and pinion lift machine and infrared relay system. The IR system allows TV lift owners to operate electronics such as cable box and DVD player without having direct line of sight. This means that electronics can remain hidden in bottom drawer and still be controlled by remote control. Simply plug and play!
Our Tao TV lift cabinet is very soon going to be offered in an edgier red finish. If you are looking for a piece of furniture with a bold presence, than this beautiful TV lift cabinet could be the perfect match.
The Tao features Asian inspired antique brass hardware to compliment the red paint finish of the cabinet. The main doors are kept closed by a swinging latch but open up to plenty of storage space. Behind the doors are adjustable ventilated shelves made of wood and scratch resistant finish. Your electronics, books, videos and games can all be neatly tucked away.
The Tao Red has a built-in heavy duty rack and pinion Uplift 3700 residential grade lift machine that can easily fit TVs ranging between 37” to 55”. Our IR relay system can also be found within this cabinet. The IR Relay System receives commands transmitted from your cable remote and relays the commands to your electronics within cabinet. The system makes it possible for you to operate your electronics behind closed doors.
The new Tao Red will be available in approximately 45 days. Would you like to be the first one to order? If so, call our office at 561-417-0999.

The recent severe weather that spawned tornadoes and floods across the south has had a major impact on the furniture industry. Fortunately, ImportAdvantage’s factory and warehouse were not affected by the tornado. However, according to Furniture Today, particularly affected is northeast Mississippi, an area popular for upholstery manufacturers. Several factories were completely destroyed during the storms. Employees were evacuated from the factories as baseball sized hail demolished roofs and tornado sirens warned of nearby danger. Reports from employees that were stuck inside the evacuated factories include broken or torn off roofs and blown out glass. Long-time furniture industry executive, Lynn Davis, was one of over 200 fatalities attributed to the storms that moved through the area.

Today is Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding day. Did you watch it? If so, apparently you are not alone. According to Mailonline.com, an estimated 2 billion people tuned in to watch their wedding from around the world. If you did not get a chance to watch it this morning, we recommend rising the TV lift, turning on the TV, and watching the Royal Wedding highlights tonight. All the major news networks, CNN, ABC, and NBC will be covering it.
We recently received a call from HGTV inviting us to feature one of our TV lift cabinets on their new show called HGTV’d. The HGTV’d show dynamic has a celebrity designer surprise selected homeowners with the most out-of-the box, outrageous room makeovers. Each episode a new celebrity designer and room theme will be chosen. Make sure to turn on your TV and change the channel to the HGTV network. You might see one of our TV lift cabinets featured soon. Perhaps it may be the one you already have. How cool would that be to watch your TV lift cabinet on your television while in your TV lift cabinet?
New TV – check ! New TV Lift Cabinet – check! Now it is time to select your new digital television service provider.
With the introduction of digital television, two main service providers have emerged into the television market and are growing rapidly. In the last few years, Verizon and AT&T have both expanded their influence by entering into the television market with the new age of digital/HD television. Verizon has launched FiOS and AT&T has launched U-Verse®. We have done some research on both providers and are now going to share with you are findings.
|Verizon FiOS||fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP)
100 % fiber optic network
|Excellent. Image is better for HD TV, image quality will still be excellent in bad weather||$64.99 to $99.99
|Over 130 HD channels, 345 digital channels, 19,000 video On Demand titles every month, access Facebook and Twitter on your TV, Over 46 commercial-free music channels
Remote DVR programming via Web and cell phone, and much more…
|AT&T U-Verse®||fiber-to-the-node (FTTN)- AT&T will be switching gradually over to FTTP||Excellent (but still uses old copper wiring which is subject to bad weather conditions).||$19 to $137 bundled deals ; slightly more affordable than FiOS due to using existing copper wire infrastructure||Record up to four shows at once on a single DVR and can play them back in any room; Pause your recorded show in one room and pick it up in another, view Flickr photos on TV, choose your own Multiview channels you want to watch, Remote DVR programming via Web and cell phone, and much more…|
To sum up the table above here are the key findings.
Verizon uses fiber connections while AT&T uses their existing copper wiring connections. Fiber is a much better product than copper for transmitting information. In lay man terms, this means that during a bad storm, your image quality will not be affected and you can go about watching your favorite shows with no image interruptions. FiOS trumps U-Verse® with fiber connection.
AT&T, however, does provide more affordable bundled packages than Verizon. This is partly because Verizon must cover the cost of laying down new fiber connections which is time consuming and expensive. To cover for the cost of this expense, they have slightly higher consumer pricing. AT&T bundled packages are more affordable because they rely upon using their existing copper wiring to transmit information. AT&T does plan to switch to fiber connections gradually over the next few years. U-Verse® wins over FiOS on pricing.
Both FiOS and U-Verse® offer cool features to consumers. With FiOS, customers can access Facebook and Twitter on their TVs. The sharing ability between PC and flat panel is amazing. With U-Verse®, consumers have the ability to record up to four programs at once. Wonderful! It is a toss-up on who wins on best cool features. Both FiOS and U-Verse® offer uniquely different features. It truly depends on the consumer’s interests.
Ok, we have provided you with a quick breakdown. Now it is your turn to vote. Which one do you feel is better?
