Two weeks ago our Remington Fireplace TV Lift Cabinet was featured on the television show, HGTV’D.  The HGTV’D show has a celebrity designer remodel a room for selected homeowners.

In the episode where our Remington Fireplace TV Lift Cabinet made its debut, The Cardenas family were the lucky homeowners selected to receive a beautiful room makeover by designer, Sandy Espinet.  Sandy Espinet is a world – renown, designer who specializes in Mexico architecture and décor.  She currently operates Square One Furniture in San Jose Del Cabo.  HGTV selected Sandy Espinet for the Cardenas who wanted a traditional Mexican inspired family room.

Sandy chose our Remington Fireplace TV Lift Cabinet for its traditional beauty and functionality.  Not only is it aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but the cabinet can also conceal a 55” TV.  To view part of the episode, check it out HERE.

TV Lift Owners, do you subscribe to Netflix?  If so, here is the latest news with Netflix.  Netflix’s decision to raise their pricing by 60 percent has lead to the cancellation of 600,000 customers.  Wall Street reported its shares dropping about 19 percent or to $39.46, to close at $169.25 last Thursday.  This stock price is 40 percent lower than what it was valued at before the company unveiled its risky pricing strategy.  The cost to shareholders is more than $6 billion and may be more.

Earlier this month Starz Entertainment decided not to renew their licensing rights to Netflix.  As many of you know, Starz provides over a 1,000 movies to Netflix’s video library.  Showtime also has pulled back on some of their movie selection with Netflix.  These changes are set to take place in March.

With these serious setbacks and high price increase, it will be interesting to see how many other subscribers cancel.  Netflix definitely needs to act quickly in order to save their customers from switching over to their competition such as Amazon and Hula Plus.

A colleague of mine recently had her iPhone stolen.  In the old days before smart phones, if a phone was stolen or lost, the owner would simply purchase a new phone, deactivate old phone, and reprogram all contacts back into phone.  It was an inconvenience, but at least manageable.

Nowadays, with everyone owning smart phones, things have become more complicated.  Not only do you have to replace phone, deactivate old phone, and reprogram all contacts back into address book, but you also have to change all passwords for your email accounts, Facebook page, banking, and any other important data that was previously stored on your phone.  What a nightmare!

Since our TV Lift Cabinet Owners are tech savvy, I am going to share with you a few ways that you can protect your computer and phone.

1.)    Download iHound app to your smart phone.  IHound software allows you to track your smart phone at all times.  You can even sound a loud alarm to locate your phone.

2.)    Sign up for Myfoundcast.com –this is an internet based lost and found service.  It allows you to create custom wallpaper and embed information into the wallpaper saying something to the effect of “If you find this phone, please report to www.myfoundcast.com.”  The custom wallpaper also has a unique ID # for each phone.  When someone goes to their site to return a phone, the person will be prompted to enter in the ID # to notify owner of phone being found.

3.)    Prey software is designed to also track your phone and computer.  A gentleman who was recently robbed during the London riots was able to identify the thief and retrieve his computer back with this software.  This software not only tracks your device but it notifies you of when someone has logged into it and you can see what sites the thief visits.  In the case of the London incident, this thief went straight to his Facebook account page, which led to his immediate arrest.  Brilliant!
