Your Living Room/Family Room

Prepare Your Home For Spring

While it may seem hard to believe while there’s a blizzard burying the Northeast, but spring really is just around the corner. And with the warmer, sunnier weather comes the time for us to brighten up our homes by replacing dreary winter décor with fun spring designs. If you have spring plans to revamp your home, why not get your spring cleaning out of the way at the same time? Our TV lift cabinets are a perfect combination of both re-organizing and re-decorating. Many cabinets have finishes and designs that just scream “Spring!”

Usually, when I think of spring influenced décor, I think of light colors like pastels, whites and creams. For storage needs, TV lift cabinets provide storage for your TV and electronics. Sometimes, there’s even extra room for speakers, pictures, DVDs or anything else you want to hide away.  Below are my favorite spring TV lift cabinets, what do you think?:

Belle Blue

Belle Blue has a beautiful light blue finish reminiscent of Robin’s eggs – which just happens to be one of the first signs of spring! The soft curves and intricate door and drawer pulls really make this cabinet a stand out piece in any home.

Hamptons

One of our newest cabinets, Hamptons is finished in pure white.  Clean lines and brushed nickel pulls make this cabinet fit right in whether you have traditional or contemporary style.

Harbor Weathered White

Harbor is the perfect addition to any room where you want to introduce the shabby chic, antique look. The accordion doors open up to allow TV viewing with the lift up or down.

Feel free to share your spring decorating ideas in the comments!

Cozy Up To One of Our Electric Fireplace TV Lift Cabinets This Fall!

In my opinion, living in Florida is great. Warm weather, (almost) always sunny and the beach is never too far away. That said, I was born and raised in Canada. So while I despise most things winter, fall is such a cozy and colorful time of year that it makes me nostalgic for my time up north. When the leaves change color, the air is crisp but not frigid and the smell of wood-burning fireplaces is in the air – I love it! While we don’t have wood-burning fireplace TV lift cabinets (that might not work out so well…), we do have a large selection of electric fireplace TV lift cabinets that are especially popular this time of year.

For those more into a modern design, we have three different fireplace TV lift cabinets for you to choose from:  Soho Espresso, Soho Caramel and Loft. Soho features two drawers at the base of the cabinet where you can store your electronic components. Although your components are stored in the drawers, you can still control them via the built in IR system. Loft has a cubby cutout along the top of the cabinet where you can store your components with additional storage on each side of the fireplace.

For those with more traditional taste, we have Remington Brown, Remington White and Huntington. Like their modern counterparts, Remington has two drawers at the base for components while Huntington has a cubby along the top.

All our electric fireplace TV lift cabinets allow you to control the temperature and the flame. A built-in partition wall separates your TV from the fireplace so your TV and electronics are 100% protected. Order your electric fireplace TV lift cabinet today so you can be sure you to have it in time for the holidays to wow your family and friends!

Putting the U into Furnishing

Since I moved into my home earlier this year, I have constantly been searching for inspiration when it comes to decorating. Each room is a blank canvas and the possibilities really are endless. It’s amazing how with a simple coat of paint on the walls, you can completely transform a room. Sometimes making your space an accurate depiction of who you are can be much harder than it seems. Case in point, in 6 months I have already painted then repainted my living room and dining room. Once all the painting was done, I moved on to furnishing. I thought my best strategy would be to tackle one room at a time. That strategy quickly went down the drain and it now has turned into a little bit in this room, a little bit in that. But finally, all is coming together. I’ve come up with a few pointers along the way for us newbies who are decorating for the first time or even for those of us who are just looking to revive our current décor.

1. Never buy out of necessity. What I mean by this is don’t just buy the first sofa you see because you need one and you need one now. Furniture usually a) is pricey and b) is the first impression you will give someone when they come into your home. Put thought and care into each piece you buy.

2. Pick one centerpiece and build the room around it. I wanted a rustic style living room so I bought a table to set the tone and purchased pieces to match. You can start with anything, it doesn’t have to be a table. Try a sofa, a TV lift cabinet or even window treatments.

3. I have always been told to decorate the room first and then paint. I did it backwards and was very happy with the results. I feel that painting is the quickest and easiest way to personalize a space. Especially if you can’t afford to furnish it all at once. A splash of color is a great starting point.

These are just three tips I came up with based on my own experience but like anything, they won’t apply to everyone. What are some other tips for decorating that I might have missed?

Mancaves Done Right

All I’ve been hearing about lately is how fall sports are really kicking into high gear over the next few weeks. College football is back tonight, NFL starts in a couple weeks, and NHL hockey will be close behind. Now that our main TV will be dominated by games every weekend until February, I’m starting to entertain the idea of a mancave (don’t tell my husband…). Mancaves seem to be everywhere these days. TV shows dedicated to them, men raving about them. My whole issue with a mancave was that it would look too out of place in my home. My entire decor has a certain flow and everything seems to fit. Well, where does a mancave fall into place? I don’t want a random room with sports memorabilia and movie posters hanging on the wall. People will think I have a reclusive teenage son that I never talk about. So I got to thinking, is there a way to make a mancave, dare I say, fashionable? All I want would be a few decorative elements that would appease me but would go unnoticed to the average man catching the game in the mancave. Maybe with a little decorative flair, one could overlook the NY Yankees banner that would be sure to adorn an entire wall.

Chic but manly enough for the mancave!

I figure if we were to go with this whole mancave idea, I could leave the ‘accessorizing’ up to my husband and I could pick out the big ticket items (see last week’s blog about my online shopping habit..). Maybe I’m biased but a TV lift cabinet is the perfect happy medium. TV lift cabinets have the wow factor and technology to be accepted into the mancave but also don’t look out of place in a finely decorated home. Plus when it’s not game time, you can lower your TV into the cabinet and not have it be the center of attention. Do you have a mancave in your home? What is the centerpiece of your mancave?

Dancing with the Stars Season 13 Finale Gets Underway

And then there were three!  After 10 grueling weeks of competition, the finalists are set to take the stage tonight for the Season 13 Performance Finale. Check out the action on your TV lift cabinet, tonight at 8/7C on ABC. The three finalists are reality TV personality Rob Kardashian, former talk show host and actress Ricki Lake and Army veteran and soap opera star J.R. Martinez. The odds are in so let’s break down the competition!

The heavy favorite is J.R. Martinez. He has performed the most consistently and according to online betting site bodog.com, the odds of Martinez winning the competition are at 1-2. However, Martinez recently twisted his ankle which could prove to be a devastating blow to his ability to compete.

Ricki Lake comes in second place based on her odds at 2-1. Like Martinez, she has been a fan favorite since the beginning. It doesn’t hurt that her partner, Derek Hough, has taken home the coveted Mirrorball trophy in three previous seasons.

Last but certainly not least is Rob Kardashian. Although an underdog in the beginning, his technique and popularity has surged in recent weeks. Bodog.com has his odds at 4-1 but don’t sell him short just yet. In tonight’s finale, the three contestants will dance in a freestyle competition where they pick their own dance.
