I installed this lift in an already existing custom wood stereo cabinet. With a few slight adjustments to the cabinet itself, the lift screws right into place easily with very minor adjusting. I then cut a hole in the top of the cabinet using a very fine tooth wood saw blade so that piece could easily be placed back in the hole. When the lift lifts the TV, that piece of wood goes with it. When the TV turns off and goes back down, the wood falls right back into place and the hole is almost undetectable. I opted to do it this way rather than hinge the lid. The edges of the cut piece are then painted black so that it disappears from eyesight when watching the TV and just sits on top. Very easy install and would’ve taken less time had I not had to adjust the existing wood cabinet. Now I can enjoy the painting on the wall and the entire room without seeing an obnoxious TV.

I had purchased a lift mechanism from what was supposed to be a good manufacturer. Unfortunately it had problems and the first time it was used it broke. I really questioned the design and it had a weakness I saw as an obvious design flaw. Returned it and I looked elsewhere and came across TVLiftCabinet.com. WOW! Is this a well made unit and the way its constructed is superior. The customer service was helpful as I was installing it in a big motor coach and it is more than capable of handling this job. I had a client of mine design a custom cabinet for this unique installation because it was simply required. If I was near Boca Raton, FL I would have gladly ask these people to design and build it. Everything about the construction of this mechanism and the remote tells me they thoughtfully design their products. I would buy another without hesitation.
