Services such as Netflix and Hulu are making it easier than ever to access TV shows and movies online. It was only a matter of time until new technology allowed content from your PC to be transferred to your flat panel TV and vice versa. According to an article published on www.pcmag.com, watching content from your PC on the flat panel mounted in your TV lift cabinet is simple thanks to several new products. These set-top boxes such as Apple TV allow you to configure your PC to the set-top box and stream content and services from your computer to your TV.

The opposite is possible with devices like the Sling Media Slingbox PRO-HD. They capture the content from your cable or satellite box and stream it over the internet to your PC or smartphone. The system is supported by infrared relay technology, built-in to most of ImportAdvantage’s TV lift cabinets. The IR system allows you to remotely control your cable box even when you are not nearby. You can watch what you want, when you want.

Question of the week:  Out of the 37 TV Lift cabinets we have, which one is Kate’s favorite?

Now Listen Up!  Here are the rules.

So much for controlling computers with a mouse or touch screen! According to a new article released by TechNewsWorld, the latest method to control your computer is with your eyes. Tobeii Technology has recently unveiled their latest computer, a laptop controlled by movement of the user’s eyes.  By eyeing parts of the screen, the user is able to open and close windows, browse documents and photos, even zoom in and out. Simply looking at the screen will cause it to brighten from auto-dim energy saving mode. Reviews from consumers who have had the opportunity to test the technology are favorable.  The computer is in the prototype stage and is reported to be bulkier than the typical laptop.  However, Tobeii Technology has plans to partner with computer manufacturers to further develop the product into a design that makes it feasible for everyday use.  Maybe in the future they will add this technology to our TVs.  The possibilities are endless!

1.       Recycled wood – In order to live “green”, many folks are using recycled wood in their home furnishings.  Try furnishing your home this year with an Amish TV Lift Cabinet made with recycled wood.  Using recycled wood is a great way to reduce carbon footprints.

2.       Oui la France! - French influences are gaining momentum this year. Expect to see The Old World romance of vintage French pieces from the 1930s and 1940s. French motifs such as fleur de lys and quatrefoils add excellent soft features to any room.

3.       Metallic and copper accents – Can we say bling?  People want luxury! Shiny metallic and copper finishes achieve this glamorous look on a relatively affordable budget.

4.       Patterns, patterns, patterns – people will always love patterns.  This year expect to see bolder, more colorful patterns with more African tribal and Mexican influences.

5.       Color me gray – This year gray is the new neutral.  Keep a lookout for washed out purple grays
