TV lift cabinets are becoming more and more popular. The combination of a beautiful cabinet with the ability to hide your television inside is an idea that has appealed to consumers around the world. The first time I had ever heard of a TV lift cabinet was on an episode of the MTV show “Cribs”. The program featured this unbelievable foot of the bed cabinet that with the touch of a button, the flat-panel TV magically appeared from within. Similar cabinets began popping up on several episodes. Each episode featured different celebrities showing off their flashy new cabinet with the latest technology to hide their TV when not in use. Pretty soon, I was hearing about these TV lift cabinets on more than just programs broadcasting the luxurious gadgets of the rich and famous. These TV lift cabinets were on design shows, game shows and online. How did you discover TV lift cabinets? Was it on a TV show, in a magazine, through a friend? Did you know that shipping furniture can be quite expensive and cost up to several hundred dollars for one piece of furniture?  Sadly, this cost is expected to increase in the next few months as gas prices keep climbing.  Many retail furniture companies have been forced to charge a shipping fee to customers to help cover the cost of shipping.  This can range from $100 up to 10% of sales price.  Imagine you have just purchased your TV lift cabinet, dining room table set and living room furniture for your new home for a total of $10,000.  Ten percent of that is $1,000 that you would have to pay just to ship your furniture!  Yowsers!

Services such as Netflix and Hulu are making it easier than ever to access TV shows and movies online. It was only a matter of time until new technology allowed content from your PC to be transferred to your flat panel TV and vice versa. According to an article published on www.pcmag.com, watching content from your PC on the flat panel mounted in your TV lift cabinet is simple thanks to several new products. These set-top boxes such as Apple TV allow you to configure your PC to the set-top box and stream content and services from your computer to your TV.

The opposite is possible with devices like the Sling Media Slingbox PRO-HD. They capture the content from your cable or satellite box and stream it over the internet to your PC or smartphone. The system is supported by infrared relay technology, built-in to most of ImportAdvantage’s TV lift cabinets. The IR system allows you to remotely control your cable box even when you are not nearby. You can watch what you want, when you want.
