  1. The Kindle Fire is Definitely Worth Looking At

Amazon’s Kindle Fire Tablets are selling better than expected.  With over 20,000 sold per day Amazon is grabbing a nice piece of the Tablet game industry.  Tablets became a big hit when Apple launched the iPad.  However, the iPad tablet comes with a price point at $600 or more.  In this economic recession, many people cannot justify spending that much money on a tablet.

Amazon recognized this problem and saw a perfect opportunity to market a more affordable tablet to this group.  The result is the Kindle Fire, which is currently on sale for only $199.

The Kindle Fire allows users to browse the web using Amazon’s fast silk browser, listen to music, read books and magazines, streamline videos and send and receive emails.

The Kindle Fire has Whispersync technology built in.  With Whispersync, consumers can start a movie on their Kindle Fire, pause it, and then resume watching their show right where they had left off from their TV Lift Cabinet.  The Kindle Fire also has free

  5. Hulu on Track to Reach One Million Subscribers by Summer’s End

Internet streaming service, Hulu, is on track to reach 1 million Hulu Plus subscribers by the end of the summer.  The company initially predicted that this milestone would be achieved by year’s end – putting it months ahead of schedule.

Hulu offers free streaming TV shows while Hulu Plus offers a wider array of content for $7.99 per month. Hulu Plus is not only available online but many gaming consoles such as Xbox and DVR boxes are capable of streaming Hulu Plus content to your TV lift cabinet. Although the unexpected upturn in subscribers is encouraging, obstacles still remain. Cable and satellites providers are hesitant to pay excessive sums for programming that can be obtained for free online, thus putting intense pressure on Hulu executives.

Working with a similar model is Netflix, Hulu’s largest competitor. In comparison, Netflix has over 20 million paying subscribers and recently announced plans to extend their service to Central America and the Caribbean.

  7. “Green Lantern” a box office bomb?

“Green Lantern” opened at the box office this weekend to much hype. The latest addition to the long list of comic book adaptations was estimated to pull in $55-$60 million domestically in its opening weekend. As the sales amounts begin to trickle in, it appears that the film fell short of expectations bringing in only $52.7 million from 3,816 screens. It’s worth noting that “Green Lantern” has approximately $200 million to make.

In the past, comic book movies have been big hits in theaters so “Green Lantern’s” performance comes as a shock. Two other comic book based films have opened recently, “Thor” and “X-Men: First Class” – both of these films out-performed “Green Lantern”. Like many comic book and action films, “Green Lantern” had a widespread 3D release. It debuted on 2,711 3D screens yet still underperformed when compared to its counterparts.

Box Office analysts reported that from Friday to Saturday, ticket sales dropped a whopping 22%. In comparison, “X-Men” and “Thor” only dropped
