  2. Netflix Customers Are Furious At Drastic Price Increase

Netflix announced on their blog on Tuesday, July 12th that they plan to do away with their combined unlimited streaming and DVD by mail plans and increase pricing by 60%.  Of course, they tried to spin it as a positive solution for their customers.

“First, we are launching new DVD only plans. These plans offer our lowest prices ever for unlimited DVDs – only $7.99 a month for our 1 DVD out at-a-time plan and $11.99 a month for our 2 DVDs out at-a-time plan. By offering our lowest prices ever, we hope to provide great value to our current and future DVDs by mail members."

Now, as a Netflix customer myself and TV Lift Cabinet Owner, this paragraph clearly did not make sense to me.  Offering their lowest prices ever?  Um…how do you figure?

Let’s recap shall we.  Currently, Netflix customers enjoy an unlimited streaming plan for only $7.99 (which has not changed on their new price structure).  However, if Netflix customers wish to get DVDs by mail, they can at only a $2 increase

  8. Last Harry Potter movie premieres this week!

Have you gotten your movie tickets yet for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows – Part 2?  J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels have been entertaining families across the world since 1997 and movies for ten years.  Now, the last movie of the Harry Potter series is being premiered this week in the United States.

The grand finale is bittersweet for those who have been following the cast of Harry Potter for these last ten years.  On the one hand folks are excited to finally seen Harry Potter (played by Daniel Radcliffe) take on the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) head to head.  We have been waiting patiently for Harry Potter to grow up and finally revenge his parents’ murder.  We have also been waiting for Ron’s (Rupert Grint) and Hermione’s (Emma Watson) love story to unfold.  I am told this comes to fruition in this last movie.  However as much as we wish to see the great battle and love story between Hermione and Ron, there is still a part of us who will be sad to say goodbye
