  1. Pantone releases fall 2018 color trends

Marisa Spyker recently wrote an article for Coastal Living about the fall color trends for home furnishing design. She says, “As the promise of chilly winter days starts to fade, there’s no question: We’ve got spring on the mind. In the design world, however, things are just heating up for fall.”

For those of us who were still watching the snow fall in April, thinking about fall seems a long way off. But if you’re in the process of selling and/or purchasing a home, she shares some fascinating color trends you may want to consider for your new space.

Spyker said, according to Pantone, the authority on all things color, bolder and brighter hues are on the horizon for the Fall/Winter 2018 season. And while the predictions primarily focus on fashion, they inevitably influence design in all its forms.”

“The fall/winter 2018 palette continues to show designers expressing the need for individuality, ingenuity and creativity though fashion,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone

  2. What's trending in home furnishings for 2015?

It’s hard to believe that 2014 is coming to a close.

I had coffee with a good friend yesterday and we started talking about our home projects for next spring. Guess it’s never to soon to dream. Her focus: gardening. My focus: getting my house in order to sell in a couple of years as we prepare to retire someplace that doesn’t EVER get to -30 degrees in the winter.

As I started looking at various interior design websites on the latest design trends, it’s nice to know that my personal style fits right in with the trends for 2015. First up: reinventing classic luxury. What does that mean? Well for me it means using surprising textures, refreshing colors to more modern hues and making sure that the artistic details of furnishings are front and center. I wondered about which TVLiftCabinets would align with some of the new design trends the designers are seeing for 2015.

I checked in with Rob Buehl, CEO of TVLiftCabinet and asked for some ideas to share with readers. He pointed out that for people

  3. Sleek Entertainment Center Design on a Budget

Typically, when it comes to furnishing your home and designing a home theater setup, functionality comes first, and then, if the budget allows, design and style comes second. Oftentimes, this will result in a very functional but bland looking entertainment setup. Why would you want to spend a huge chunk of your time sitting in a room that is purely utilitarian?

Many people see a TV lift or TV cabinet as a luxury for the rich. In actuality, a TV lift or TV lift cabinet can be added to your living space at a relatively low cost. Rather than spending your design budget on something purely decorative, you should try and combine  functionality and design to conserve funds. When not in use, a TV lift cabinet still adds flavor to a room and can act as a temporary shelf. The living room or den can quickly convert from being focused around a television (like most living rooms), into being laid out for entertaining. It is amazing what hiding a TV can do for the ambiance of the room during a party

  6. Add Space to Your Bedroom with a TV Lift

With the ubiquity of home electronics in this day and age, most people consider a TV in the bedroom to be a necessity for relaxation after a long day. However, some studies have shown that leaving a TV in your room (especially one with glowing standby lights) is a great way to mess up your circadian rhythms (your sleep patterns). In addition, having a TV in the bedroom can really diminish the amount of space.

Having a well-organized living space or bedroom often means having lots of natural light and minimizing artificial light. Maximizing open space has also been shown to help with mental acuity and stress reduction. So how do you get the best of both worlds? Having a TV in the bedroom is great, but do the benefits outweigh the cost? Many people choose to go with a TV lift or TV cabinet to put away their TV when it is not actively being used. Keeping the lights of an idling TV out of sight from the bed and maximizing the amount of space can really cut down on the downsides of televisions
