  1. DIY TV lift mechanism project - cool restoration of a vintage radio bar

Family heirlooms are treasures and more often than not, we don't know what to do with them. But Jonathan at Jonathan Katz-Moses knew exactly what to do with the old vintage radio bar (that has been in the family for over 90 years) and a modern heavy-duty TV lift mechanism. Well, he put the two together and came up with a creative idea - house a secret self-raising bar in the radio. The project has turned out amazing. You can check out the tutorial here

The most common problems with family heirlooms:

    1. Takes up room- Of course family heirlooms have their own place in life but the truth is that they still take up room and they are not necessarily in top-notch condition. More often than not a family heirloom can pretty much end up looking like vintage junk in the house.
    2. Zero utility- Something that is an heirloom is evidently old and chances are that it has lost its utility completely. For instance, the vintage radio bar, with its age showing,  just isn’t in sync with the decor. It needs

  2. How to build a TV lift cabinet to go with your decor

So, you’ve got a beautiful log cabin. It’s your go-to vacation spot, but man, do you miss the TV there! Suppose you do get a TV there, it’ll be an beautiful combination. So, what do you do? You try finding a solution to the possible issues.

The trouble that a TV can cause are:

    1. Clash with the decor-  Sleek, modern TVs, and rustic log cabins just don’t go together. While the cabin is old-world charming, a TV is a modern blackhole and at best an eyesore from the decor point of view. Completely ruins the look of the place.
    2. Ruining the mood- When you are out on an adventure vacation and want to spend quality time with family, without being bothered by devices, a TV is the last thing you want playing in the background.

No, you don’t have to compromise on the decor or on your TV time. You just need to get smart, and get a hidden TV lift cabinet, or get craftsy like Kyle from HallStickFurniture and build a custom hidden TV lift cabinet using a hidden TV lift mechanism. You can watch the

  3. How to extend the life of your TV

A TV is a necessity that is certainly not cheap. You need a decent budget if you want to buy a new TV, which is why it is important to take good care of the TV.  Here are some ways to extend the life of your TV:

    1. Keep the TV safe from children- It hardly takes any imagination to understand exactly what children are capable of doing to a TV. They often pat and kiss their favorite TV characters, smack the bad guys and in the process of expressing themselves, put the TV through so much distress! They even test the screen's strength by hitting it with their toys. The simplest solution- get a hidden TV lift cabinet and hide the TV in it. Pull it out only for a limited time. It will also help you address children's screen time issues and check overuse.
    2. Keep the TV safe from grease- Many of us enjoy the open floor layout. It is extremely convenient and makes it easier to keep an eye on the rest of the family and be part of conversations even if you are in the kitchen. You can watch TV while

  4. How to build a hidden TV lift cabinet

What do you do when you can’t stand the black hole of a TV at home? Or when the side profile of the TV on the wall looks horribly ugly? Obviously, you can’t just take the TV off the wall and be done with it. You simply need a TV when you want to watch it.  It is precisely when you are stuck with such a problem that the TV lift mechanism comes in to save the day (and the TV and your peace of mind)!

Amy from HerToolBelt just couldn’t stand the sight of the TV on the wall. She used our TV lift mechanism to solve the problem. As awesome as she is with tools, Amy created a cabinet with sliding barn doors. This cabinet features a hidden compartment. It is here that the TV lift mechanism is placed with the TV mounted onto it. So, what looks like a charming living room cabinet, secretly contains the TV and is a hidden TV lift cabinet! You can watch the entire video here

The takeaways from this project are:

    1. Enjoying the charm of the decor- A modern gadget like a TV doesn’t really go well

  5. Awesome home office upgrade with a TV lift mechanism

Most of us hadn’t given the home office much thought until we were forced to stay home and work out of that semi-ignored space.  And that is when DIY Builds realized that their home office desperately needed an upgrade.  Once the upgrades started, there was no stopping them.  Here is what DIY Builds did with their home office.  You can see the whole build here.

The old home office had two desks set up right next to each other. There was enough workspace, but the look did not tie in well together. So, he decided to create a twin computer table desk and added a special feature to it. He used the TV lift mechanism to hoist a TV on it, which he strategically hid behind the desk unit!  Turned out amazing.

There are some undeniable advantages of having a hidden TV lift mechanism in your home office.

    1. Raises the style quotient- More than anything else, automation adds a touch of luxury to the decor. With a simple press of the remote, the TV lift mechanism props the TV up. The TV suddenly

  8. 5 ways to add style to your bedroom

The bedroom is the place we head for when we are tired and desperately need to rest.  Yet, it is also the space we like spending time in when we want to simply sit back and enjoy life.  So, it doesn’t quite make sense to have a bedroom that is sleepy all the way. It deserves a bit of style and a dash of creativity too.  There are tons of ideas that you can use, but here are our favorite ones:

    • Minimize the clutter- Just like you can’t think straight when there are too many thoughts cluttering up the mind, clutter in the bedroom totally kills the style. A style can evolve only when you get the clutter out of the way. Some things can straightaway be put away or even discarded, but then there is the clutter than you have to live with- the mess of wires and gadgets around the TV. Since you can’t quite throw it out, the next best thing is to camouflage it in a hidden TV lift cabinet. The hidden TV lift cabinet will have enough space for your TV, the wires, and other accessories and gadgets.

  9. 4 tips to breathe life into your living room

A living room is the space you share with acquaintances, friends, and these days even more so with the family.  Everyone has a living room, but most of these spaces are dull, dead, and boring. Just placing things in the living room won’t breathe life into it, but these tips certainly will.

    1. Tie in the look- The most common mistake people make in styling their living room is having pieces that simply don't fall in place to give one unified look.  You don't necessarily have to throw out all your furniture.  All you need to do is brainstorm a way of using accessories like cushions or rugs to connect everything.  Looks break the continuity of things and sends out awkward vibes.
    2. Make it cozy- If you happen to have a large living room, chances are that you will have your furniture up against the walls, too far from each other, to actually encourage conversations. Conversation needs coziness and proximity, and that certainly means cutting down on distance.  Place couches at a comfortable

  10. Smart room partition/divider ideas

The “openness” of open floor layouts can be quite intimidating, and so you need to break the monotony.  One of the most convenient ways of doing so is by setting up a divider to create separate spaces. There are tons of smart ideas that you can use.

    1. Panels- Panels are an effective way to divide a large space into smaller spaces. Panels are not nearly as defining as walls, but function very well as partitions. They come in an entire range of materials including wood, bamboo, and glass. Panels are semi-permanent in the sense that they need a little bolting either into the walls, the ceiling, or the floor. Still, they offer a lot of variety in terms of design and even alignment.
    2. Sliding glass doors- Sliding glass doors are used to create much more defined spaces than panels can. They also cut out sound to some extent, making the partition a lot more effective. The panels can be clear glass or frosted glass, depending on the degree of privacy  you require.
    3. Screens- Screens are available
